Shoji Teramura prepared for a career in linguistics by receiving both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Osaka University in Toyonaka, Japan. As a linguist and educator, he used his knowledge and experience to educate students at Wakayama University from 1973 to 2001. During this time, he also served as a visiting scholar at Lancaster University in England.
Mr. Teramura is active in his field and continues to study and publish books. His most important work includes his research into modality in contemporary English. He is the co-author of “The Kenkyusha Dictionary of English Linguistics and Philology,” the co-editor of “Shogakukan Random House English-Japanese Dictionary,” and also contributes to a number of professional journals, including the Bulletin of the Faculty of Education Wakayama University. In addition, he is a member of the English Literary Society of Japan, the English Linguistic Society of Japan and the Japan Association of College English Teachers. |
